Ralph Nader…..Traitor

is it ego? stupidity? or does he really  want this country to fall deeper into dis-pare?

what reason in the world can he give for running for president again? he’s now becoming a joke, not the huge consumer advocate he was for years.  not the voice of the working man, but the one who hands elections to the undeserving.  hopefully this travesty will never get off the ground and he won’t get on any ballots.  he should be ashamed of himself.  he is trying to inject himself into one of the most exciting presidential races in my lifetime, and he’ll add nothing to it.  he’s becoming nothing but a pesky little blister that needs to be lanced.

Those Who We Should Not Speak Of…

there are those who say and do things for the sole purpose of creating a scandal to sell books or get their hateful message out.  others say things for a larger group that I think the larger group just wishes they’d shut up already. 

there is a small family in Kansas that are religious nuts plain and simple.  they protest funerals of soldiers, and famous people to get their hateful message out.  now they number in the tens, but our media thinks they are news worthy, why? if they never got any press they would most likely go away and eventually die off……I really wish the news media would just stop covering them once and for all. 

 then there are these “ultra conservatives” that say ridicules things that always get press, but are really just sound bites to generate sales.  they don’t want a true debate or discussion because they know their contribution to the conversation would be refuted so fast the debate would be over before it started.  so they continue to spew these outrageous statements and hide in their holes.

and the supposed spokesman for the “catholic league” that is always foaming at the mouth and saying the most bigoted things in order to defend his religion.  I’m sure most catholics wish he would go away and keep his mouth shut.  it must be so appalling to have him as their mouthpiece.

what  these all have in common is that our news media gives them a much larger voice than they deserve.  now, I’m all for their right to be idiots, but not for their over exposure in the news.  they are just “tabloid” news, not legit…..they bring nothing to the discussion, nothing…..

2008 Election

this is an exciting election year….filled with hope and a chance for a better America.  I voted in my primary on super Tuesday and literally didn’t make my decision until I was in the booth.  I was seriously torn, but not in a bad way.  for the first time in a long time, I wouldn’t mind either of the 2 nominees, Clinton or Obama. 

now, to have both on the ticket come November would be something, something unbeatable.  it would be historic and show the world that America was serious about becoming that beacon of hope once again, a nation that all it’s citizen’s would be proud of again….

I must say that I’m taking pleasure in watching the republicans implode this year.  it’s great to see all the self imposed “celebrity” leaders coil at the prospect of McCain as their nominee.  from Coulter to Dobson, they are coming apart at the seams.  it nice though to see that they are losing some of their influence, even if a lot of their influence was in their own imaginations.  hopefully, this is finally the beginning of their end.

 I still think that we need a national primary.  who ever wins the popular vote is the nominee.  the convention can be used to lay out the agenda for the nominee.  no delegates….the same for the general election….no electoral college, just the popular vote.  this is a democracy right?
